A plaque dedication ceremony was held on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Borough Hall, Princeton. After the brief ceremony, a short reception was held at the Morven Museum (http://www.historicmorven.org/). The Museum is adjacent to Princeton Borough Hall. Members, special guests and family and friends were invited.
The dedication ceremony was held on the 231st anniversary of the Battle of Princeton.
The plaque states:
In the memory of those New Jersey Patriots
who served on land and sea during
the American Revolution 1775-1783
And to
Captain Daniel Neil
Who gave his life in the
Battle of Princeton, January 3, 1777
While commanding the East Jersey Artillery under
Brigadier General Hugh Mercer
New Jersey Society Sons of the Revolution 2007
On May 27, 2005 the SRNJ dedicated a plaque at the Battle of Trenton Monument located at 348 South Warren Street, Trenton. The plaque was inscribed with the following:
“DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF THE BLACK SOLDIERS AND PATRIOTS BOTH FREE AND ENSLAVED WHO SERVED IN THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION 1776-1783 - Society of Sons of the Revolution of the State of New Jersey – 2005.” To learn more click here
